     Distorted Souls/ Art Film Noir

is based on a collection of artworks that I have created during the past 20 years. Some of these works were created during a time period in my life where I suffered involuntary damage on the body, the ‘body’ in this case being the organs connected to the ‘soul’ (and my time). This involuntary damage was caused by an erroneously prescribed medical substance abuse, a criminal act against my being, performed by healthcare “professionals”. Hence, the title ‘Distorted Souls’, representing the various highlighted feelings and emotions (manifesting themselves through the art) due to the frustration resulting from this grave medical error. Feelings including anger, love, revolt, sadness, rage, questioning, provocation, satire, beauty, joy ETC!! The accompanying musical piece is called ‘Believe Her’. The text also relates to the festival theme in a way that it talks about the psychological consequences that follow the ‘involuntary damage’, such as not being ‘believed’ and being ‘questioned’ whether what happened to you is true or not. This relates to my story - but I dedicate the text to anyone (or any woman) who has experienced involuntary damage on the body in one way or another and not being taken seriously. Hence, the title of the song.

Totally dominated by a state of empathy, a woman tries to recover from the impact caused by the shock she had to discover about the involuntary bodily changes and mutilations, permanent or semi-permanent in the female bodies. She dances on a deserted beach as in a therapeutic ritual, which at the same time brings to her imagination the memories of images and knowledge about the terrible physical and psychological consequences suffered by the victims of these practices.

One of way too many beautiful souls we lost to COVID -19 last year.

Clau was a regular collaborator and we miss her and her beautiful art dearly.
